The Magic of Mykonos

1

December, in so many ways, is incredibly magical.

There are beautiful illuminated decorations everywhere, festive parties all around, and plenty of excuses to pack your latest cruise wear and jet-set on to your next holiday destination.  I, for one, am definitely dreaming of blue skies and crystal clear waters this season.

Today’s blog is all about our magical time at my ultimate favorite resort island of all… the ravishing island of Mykonos!

My love affair for this island started the second I set foot on this small charismatic archipelago.  During the planning stage, we opted to choose a convenient but luxurious oceanfront hotel near the village of Mykonos.  Upon arrival, we were surely not let down.  Kouros Boutique Hotel, the lovely property that we called home while on the island, provided a stunning setting for our extraordinary stay in the island.  Life is certainly good. ♥

Imagine your days surrounded by the endless lucent blue waters paired with the fairest blue skies you could ever dream of.  Imagine a row of infinity pools decked in front of white washed cobblestone resorts ready to be the backdrop of your most desired dream coming true.

Mykonos is known to be one of the world’s most popular beach party locations.  It is also considered one of the best clubbing destinations in the world, attracting the world’s top DJ’s throughout the summer months.  It has a fabulous allure that appeals to the chicest, most well-traveled people worldwide.  Everywhere you go, seasoned jetsetters are walking the town decked in the latest designer resort wear.  They are carrying Chanel bags donned in Gucci shoes while walking the narrow alleyways of Mykonos Town.  Celine, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Valentino, you name it, they are wearing it!  Dinner starts at 9 in the evening while the partying commence at 12 midnight… after parties continue on past sunrise.  This is how it’s done here in the mesmerizing island of Mykonos!

I would say that I was lucky enough to encounter all facets Mykonos offers.  When traveling to this island, there are key locations you need to know in order to decide what part of the island you would like to stay.  It is important to note that the island spans around a big glamorous beachside resort community and rises on to an elevation where more hotel resorts dwell.  To get around, renting an ATV is a must. It is relatively cheaper to rent an ATV here compared to the U.S., costing just around $35 per 24-hour rental. Of course if you were to come during the summer peak season, I recommend reserving an ATV ahead of time.

Memories of my hair being swept-away on an electrified ride atop our super fun ATV drive in Mykonos (also known as the Greek island of the winds) definitely kept me feeling exuberant!

Greek Furnitures

Shopping for unique Greek and European fashion is available all day, every day, and, during the summer peak season, shops are even open 24 hours.  The selection for fashionable, authentic Greek sandals left me enthusiastic.  I definitely left the island having a renewed respect for natural, genuine leather.  Their alleys are decked in the best designer brands the world has to offer.  Louis Vuitton even recently opened up shop here.  Diamonds and jewels are displayed on the windows of jewelry stores while the best names in watches are also displayed alongside.  The energy of this historic island reeks of culture and sophistication.

While I was walking down the streets in the village, immersing myself to the authenticity of my surroundings that is unique only to the island of Mykonos, getting lost in the native vibe and enjoying feelings of bliss as I sampled a variety of their locally made gelato and heavenly crepes, I realized this island, without a doubt, left us enamored with fascination.  I can honestly, sincerely, truly say that word on the streets is true, the magic of Mykonos is remarkably real and the energy here is so exceptionally captivating.
